ObjectiveTo investigate the changes and meanings of VEGF、HGF after high intensity focusedultrasound treatment of advanced pancreatic cancer and to evaluate the effects and safetyof High Intensity Focused Ultrasound(HIFU)on the patients.MethodsWe chose42cases mid-late stage pancreatic cancer patients, divided into HIFUtreatment group (n=22) and conventional treatment group (n=20). Extraction ofperipheral blood test before and after the treatment group HIFU respectively andconventional treatment group different periods of VEGF,HGF,CA199numerical. Withstatistical methods of analysis before and after the treatment and HIFU routine treatmentgroup changes between the difference between each index. Observe the changes of pain, quality of life, imaging examinations before and after HIFU treatment, and the presence ofserious complications.ResultsHIFU treatment compared with before treatment VEGF and HGF reducedsignificantly (P <0.05). HIFU treatment group VEGF and HGF numerical comparedwith the same period of conventional treatment group reduced significantly(P <0.05).HIFU groups of patients median survival was significantly longer than the control group(P<0.05).After HIFU treatment the CA199decrease rate was77.8%(14/18).After HIFUtreatment, the remission rate of pain was83.3%(15/18)and the pain score obviously decreased(P <0.05).The quality of life improved obviously, KPS score increasedsignificantly(P <0.05).Five patients appeared blood amylase rise, then down to normal.Thecolor doppler ultrasound cardiogra showed that the intensity of tumor echo strengthenedand the blood supply of carcinoma was reduced remarkably and even disappeared. CTshowed that the density reduced and coagulative necrosis in the target region. No seriouscomplications such as hemorrhage, acute perforation and acute pancreatitis were found.ConclusionsHIFU can suppress angiogenesis and control tumor development by decreasing levelsof serum VEGF and HGF,and slowed tumor recurrence and metastasis,so can improve thepatients, survival period.HIFU can reduce the pain and improve the quality of life of thepatients, and the complications were rare.So HIFU is a safe and effective means in thetreatment of pancreatic cancer.
