Objective To establish the method of syndrome differentiation by deficiency and excess and observe its impact on clinical therapeutic effect and quality of life in patients with functional dyspepsia(FD). By means of Meta analysis on clinical documents of functional dyspepsia in recent ten years, it objectively reflects the current research situation and provides reference for following research. Methods Clinical Part:100cases of FD were randomly categorized into therapy group with Chinese medicine (50cases), control group with (30cases) and placebo group (20cases). Duration lasted for four weeks and follow-up was conducted one month later after finishing therapy. Symptoms before and after treatment and clinical therapeutic effect as well as patients’ life quality were observed. Meta analysis:In accordance with the documents on research of functional dyspepsia from Jan.2002to Feb.2012and principle and method of DME, Meta analysis was conducted with software RevMan5.0to evaluate therapeutic effect of Chinese medicine in managing functional dyspepsia. Results Clinical Part:(1)Total efficacy of three group was94%VS80%VS45%. Therapeutic effect of therapy group was better than that of western medicine group and placebo group with statistical significance (p<0.05), while western medicine outperformed placebo group without statistical significance (p>0.05).(2) The symptoms of patients in both therapy group and control group were better improved than those in placebo group, such as upper abdominal pain, burning sensation on upper abdomen, abdominal distention after meal, satiety, poor appetite, fatigue and belching(p<0.05). The symptoms of patients in therapyl group were better improved than those in control group, such as upper abdominal pain, burning sensation on upper abdomen, abdominal distention after meal, satiety, poor appetite, fatigue and belching, with statistical difference(p<0.05).(3) Follow-up showed that the curative effect in therapy group were better than that in control and placebo group (p<0.05). The improvement of symptoms as upper abdominal pain and buraning sensation in control group was more obvious than that in placebo group (4) Quality of life:patients in both therapy and control group enjoyed a improvement of symptoms after therapy (p<0.01). Improvement of RF、RP、 BP、 VT、 RE and PCS in therapt group was better than that in placebo group (p<0.05). Improvement of RE in control group was better than that in placebo group (p<0.05).(5) During the course of treatment and follow-up, there was no adverse event in all three groups. Meta analysis:(1)39cases conforming to included criteria were selected into the experiment of Meta analysis for comparison on both clinical therapeutic effect and therapeutic effect with Chinese medicine after screening.(2) The results showed that the therapeutic effect of Chinese medicine to treat functional dyspepsia was much better than that of Domperidone in control group aa and Mosapride in control group bb (p<0.O1).Conclusion1. Guided by syndrome differentiation of excess and deficiency, it is with noticeable therapeutic effect to relieve the symptoms in patients with functional dyspepsia as well as improve the quality of life of the patients.2. Through Meta analysis, we draw a conclusion that concerning the clinical therapeutic effect and syndrome therapeutic effect, traditional Chinese medicine enjoys a better efficacy versus western medicine(domperidone and mosapride tablets). But as the overall poor quality of documents, it still needs more random, double-blind and control researches in multi-center to provide evidence with evidence based medicine for clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine.
