[Objective]Through the chemokine receptor CXCR3has an important role in regulating tumormediating immunity, angiogenesis and metastatic spread. To investigate the expression ofCXCR3and its association with clinicopathologic features in renal cell carcinoma.[Methods]A total of96renal cell carcinoma tissues and the corresponding adjacent tissues weretaken from patients who were treated in the Department of Urinary between January2007to March2008. The expression of CXCR3were detected in renal cell carcinoma tissuesand adjacent normal renal tissues by tissue microarray technique andimmunohistochemical method. The relationship of CXCR3expression with clinicalpathology of the patients was analyzed.[Results]1. The positive rate of CXCR3was85.4%(92/96) in renal cell carcinoma tissues, whichwas significantly higher than that in the corresponding adjacent normal tissues73.4%(69/94, P=0.04).2. CXCR3expression in the renal cell carcinoma tissues was positively correlated withthe Fuhrman grade(P=0.036).The renal cell carcinoma tissues of Fuhrman gradeⅠ-Ⅱwith CXCR3expression was significantly lower than the renal cell carcinomatissues of Fuhrman grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ.3. CXCR3expression was not associated with other common clinicopahologicalfeatures, such as gender, age, lymphatic metastasis,TNM stage, carcinoma diameter(P<0.05).[Conclusion]Chemokine receptor CXCR3is over-expressed in renal cell carcinoma.the expression ofCXCR3is positively correlated with the Fuhrman grade of renal cell carcinoma. CXCR3might be a noval molecular marker to predict prognosis and metastasis in patients withrenal cell carcinoma.
