Objective:To identify whether there are significant differences amonghepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), liver cirrhosis with chronic hepatitis Band normal liver tissues. To explore relationships between the expressionand clinicopathologic features of PKB/Akt in HCC with hepatitis Bvirus(HBV) infection. Methods:We divied patients into three groups, HCC with HBV,post-hepatitis B liver cirrhosis and normal liver tissues. The tissues fromthese groups were displayed by paraffin-section method, Expression ofPKB/Akt were detected by immunohistochemistry staining(SP) assay inHCC with HBV, post-hepatitis B liver cirrhosis and normal liver tissues. The positive expression rate of PKB/Akt was compared in different age, sex, tumer size, tumer differentiation, tumor invasion and lymph nodemetastasis. Results:The positive expression rate of PKB/Akt increased significantly in HCC with HBV and post-hepatitis B liver cirrhosis groups, compared with normal liver group(94.3%,66.7%vs40.0%,P<0.05). Thereis also significant difference between HCC with HBV group andpost-hepatitis B liver cirrhosis(94.3%vs66.7%,P<0.05). The positiveexpression rates of PKB/Akt were remarkably higher in tumornon-invasion and lymph node metastasis positive patients than those ininvasion and metastasis negative patients(P<0.05). There’s no statisticaldifference of PKB/Akt in age, sex, tumer size, tumerdifferentiation(P>0.05).Conclusion: PKB/Akt highly expressed in liver cancer with HBV,andit’s associated intimately with the mechanism of tumour invasion andlymph node metastasis. Therefore, we believe PKB/Akt is important tohave instruction value in early diagnosis and therapy of liver cancer.
