Objective To investigate the cytokine environmentin of Th1cells and Th2cells inpatients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), in order to discover the role of Th1/Th2cells in the pathogenesis of ankylosing spondylitis and find the new way in thetreatment of AS.Methods A total42ankylosing spondylitis patients were selected from the firstaffiliated hospital of Anhui Medical University from2009to2010.40healthy peoplefrom physical examination were selected as controls during the same period. We dividedthe AS patients into disease activity group and stable condition group according to thedisease activity. The serum levels of related serum cytokine (IL-4, IL-12,IFN-γandTNF-α) were examined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) with42ASpatients and40health controls, the mRNA expression levels of T-bet and GATA-3weredetermined by quantitative real time PCR (RT-PCR) with42AS patients and40healthcontrols.Results The serum levels of IL-4and IL-12significantly elevated in AS patients ascompared with normal controls (P <0.05), meanwhile the serum levels of IFN-γandTNF-a showed no significantly difference (P>0.05). The serum levels of IL-4, IL-12, IFN-γand TNF-αwere no significantly higher in disease activity group than stablecondition group (P>0.05). The mRNA level of T-bet and GATA-3were significantlyhigher in AS patients (P <0.05).Conclusion There were higher level of IL-4, IL-12,T-bet and GATA-3in theperipheral blood of AS patients. They may involved in the pathogenesis of ankylosingspondylitis... |
