Objectives: Epilepsy is related with sleep structures closedly, sleep can lead toepileptiform discharges, obstracts of sleep not only can impair their ability of dailylife, but also can acute the symptoms.Compair with epileptic seizure, the research ofsubclinical epiletiform discharges has not been studied enough. Somnolence ofsubclinical epiletiform discharges may not the side effecfs of antiepileptic drugs, butcanbe related to subclinical epiletiform discharges. It is obviously that the analysis ofrelationships between subclinical epiletiform discharges and sleep structre can bedevoted to understanding its pathology, physiology and treatment. Methods: The collection of AEEG and EOG data of neurology clinical children inThe First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from June,2010to March,2011.33epileptic children and40health children were assessed with sleepparamenters and analysed the results between the two groups. Multiple regressionanalysis was performed to examine the relation of the scores of sleep structure. At thesame time,we have calssified the times according to subclinical epiletiformdischarges’s appearance and found refulation, inaddition, for further knowledge ofrelevant of subclinical epiletiform discharges and sleep structure. To explore the sleepstructure changes and its influencing factors of subclicinal epileptiform dischargesepilepsy in children. Results: The sleep structure changes in children with epilepsy of subclicinal epileptiform discharges is determined compare with healthy.Epilepsy group lightsleep time, rapid eye movement sleep (REM period) incubation period, sleep-wakefrequency increased significantly, and reduce the time of deep sleep, sleep efficiencydecreased, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Epileptiform dischargephase in study results can be seen, non-rapid eye movement sleep (in NREM)S1,S2epileptiform discharges occur more frequently, while the deep sleep of less, the REMperiod found no epileptiform discharges. The regression analysis indicated that thenumber of spikes and the number of nocturnal awakenings ultimately included in theregression equation (P <0.05), indicating the number of spikes and arousals may berisk factors for sleep structure disorder. Conclusions: The sleep efficiency and quality of subclinic epilepsy in chileren arelower.Subclinical epileptiform discharges and sleep under the relevant changes.
