Objective:By measuring the expression level of Arp3and ERp29in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissue and normal liver tissue, the expression level was compared in these tissues, the relationship between the expression level and the clinicopathological features was analyzed. Methods:This study detected their expressions in56HCC and15normal liver tissue specimens by using immunohistochemistry. Clinicopathological characteristics and survival data were also collected and analyzed for their association with expression of these two proteins. Results:The data showed that Arp3protein was significantly overexpressed in HCC (P<0.05), whereas ERp29expression was reduced in HCC compared to normal tissues (P<0.05). Arp3protein expression was associated with portal vein invasion, and lymph node or distant metastasis (P<0.05). Similarly, vimentin expression was associated with portal vein invasion, and lymph node or distant metastasis (P<0.05). Since the functions of these two proteins were closely related, the data showed that Arp3and ERp29protein expression was reversely associated. Expression was positively associated in HCC(P<0.05). Furthermore, overexpression of Arp3was a shorter survival of patients with HCC than low expression of Arp3(median survivals of12.08vs.20.10months), whereas overexpression of ERp29was a longer survival of patients with HCC than lowexpression of ERp29(median survivals of11.75vs.20.80months)Conclusions:1. The expression level of Arp2/3was significantly up-regulated in HCC, and it was correlated with cirrhosis and portal vein tumor thrombus. It may promote invasion and metastasis of tumor cell, which suggested a poor prognosis.2. The expression level of ERp29was significantly down-regulated in HCC, which was correlated with cirrhosis and portal vein tumor thrombus. Negative expression of ERp29suggested a poor prognosis.3. ERp29and Arp3expression was reversely ssociated.
