[Objectives] the occupational hazards of a Lead smelter were investigated, and the distribution of occupational hazards as lead and so on in the workplace and its health effects on workers exposed were studied, to provide a scientific basis for prevention, control and elimination of cupational hazards, and for prevention and treatment of occupational diseases.[Methods] According to relevant standards and norms, occupational health survey and occupational health test in public health were conducted on lead smelting factory in hunan to fully reflect the existed types, distribution and concentration (intensity) of occupational hazards, personnel exposure, protective facilities and personal protection.731lead exposed workers were detected.[Results] The occupational hazards of lead, arsenic, cadmium sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen arsenide, hydrogen sulfide, sulfuric acid mist, zinc oxide, noise, dust existed in this lead smelting factory. Except for lead, arsenic, cadmium, hydrogen sulfide, noise and dust, other occupational hazards in the workplace basically met the national occupational health standards. Lead, arsenic, cadmium were seriously beyond standard; The time-weighted average concentrations (TWA) of workplace air lead, arsenic, cadmium exceeded the rate of64.3%,16.7%,37.5%, the highest TWA exceeded the national occupational health standards are88.4,11.8times and40.7times respectively.324of731workers exposed to lead exceed standard in blood lead.304Of719workers exposed to arsenic exceed standard in hair arsenic,321Of389workers exposed to cadmium exceed standard in Urinary cadmium.[Conclusions] Due to lack of occupational protection facilities, lead, arsenic, cadmium dust pollution is serious in lead smelting factory, lead, arsenic, cadmium body burden is heavy in workers, blood lead, hair arsenic and urinary cadmium exceeded seriously, effective control measures should be taken as soon as possible.
