Objective: Investigate the magnetic resonance imaging evaluation of carotid arterystenosis and identification of the composition of the athero Sclerotic plaque, and based onthe degree of stenosis and plaque stability, endarter ectomy(CEA)or carotid artery stentingin surgical methods for carotid intimach oose to provide reference Methods:1.5T MRIscanner for clinical diagnosis in41cases of carotid stenosis in patients scanned, the scansequence: TOF, T1W, T2W, the PDW and CE-T1W, measured carotid stenosis degreeand the go ld standard DSA, and24cases of surgical treatment of atherosclerotic plaquepathology specimen data and preoperative MRI, the results were compared to evaluate theMRI diagnosis of the value of carotid artery stenosis and plaque Results:41cases ofcarotid artery stenosis, a total of64have varying degrees of stenosis of the carotid arteryMRA:15mild stenosis,26moderate stenosis, severe stenosis in21, complete occlusion oftwo, the DSA show:16mild stenosis, moderate stenosis of23and24with severe stenosis, complete occlusion of one;24patients,26operations (including two routine carotid arterysurge ry), a total of26plaques, pathological results showed that:23plaques visiblefibrous cap structure,20the lipid core and14plaques bleeding,16plaques exist calcification; MRI results:22fibrous capsignal,16a lipid core,13cases of plaque blockbleeding,13cases of calcification Conclusion: In the diagnosis of carotid stenosis degree,MRI andDSA are in good agreement. MRI can be used as a reliable screening method of diagnosisof carotid artery stenosis; magneic resonance imaging to show the differences of thecomponents within the plaque cmposition in the plaque and pathological specimensnostatistically signi ficant, the magnetic resonance imaging for preoperative evaluation ofcarotid artery stenosis and judgment of plaque stability and a high clinical value.
