Objective: To investigate the relationship of β-tubulinⅢ and curative effect inadvanced gastric cancer treated with docetaxel. Methods: The clinical data and tumorbiopsies prior treatment from62advanced gastric cancer patients receiving docetaxelprimarily chemotherapy in the tumor hospital affiliated of Xinjiang medical university, from January2008to June2011were respectively collected and analyzed for β-tubulinⅢexpressions by immunohistochemistry PV9000. The relationships between expressions ofbiomarker、response and side effect were determined by statistical analysis. Results: The overall response rate(CR+PR) in62patients was51.56%, The effective rateand locoregional control of TUBB3negative staining were superior to TUBB3positivestaining, TUBB3positive staining’s progress rate were higher than TUBB3negativepatients. There were significant differences of response (P <0.05). TUBB3negativepatients receiving docetaxel primarily chemotherapy, the response was superior to TUBB3positive. The most common side effect were inhibit bone marrow and gastrointestinalreaction, to give the supportive care treatment well tolerated. Conclusion: In advancedgastric cancer, TUBB3expression might predict response to docetaxel primarilychemotherapy. Further prospective evaluation in large samples should be performed toconfirm these preliminary findings.
