Objective: To study the influence of acupoint catgut embedding therapy on bloodchange of SP and the symptom in IBS model rats, in order to provide a theoretical basisof improving the treatment effect of irritable bowel syndrome.Methods:48new bornWister rats,8days old, the average weight was10±2g, applying of the methods ofchronic colonic irritation and clip tail stimulation, combined with maternal separation toprepare the animal model of irritable bowel syndrome.Using a table of random numberswhich can divide the rats into four group, the normal group, model group, medicationgroup, embedding group.Using the above method of molding and gave the treatment ofcatgut embedding method to model group, compared with the control group which weregiven western medicine, pinaverium bromide, observing the influence of these methodson the NO, VIP and SP of the model rats’ blood and colon tissue. Results: the content ofNO in serum, comparing with the blank group, the content of NO in the model group, serum increased significantly (P<0.01); comparing with the model group, content of NOin serum in embedding group and a medication group decreased significantly (P<0.01);the difference was not statistically significant between the embedding group and amedication group (P>0.05). the content of VIP in serum, comparing with the blank group, the content of VIP in the model group, serum increased significantly (P<0.01);comparing with the model group, content of VIP in serum in embedding group and amedication group decreased significantly (P<0.01);the difference was not statisticallysignificant between the embedding group and a medication group (P>0.05). the contentof SP in serum, comparing with the blank group, the content of SP in the model group, serum increased significantly (P<0.01); comparing with the model group, content of SPin serum in embedding group and a medication group decreased significantly (P<0.01);the difference was not statistically significant between the embedding groupand a medication group (P>0.05).Conclusion: catgut implantation at acupoint couldeffectively lower the content of NO, VIP, SP in serum, could improve symptoms ofirritable bowel syndrome rat models, although the difference of effect between theacupoint catgut embedding therapy and drug therapy was not significant, but the promptwas the catgut implantation at acupoint could replace the drug therapy, and reduce thenumber of treatment.
