Evaluation Of Clinical Efficacy Of Hawthorn Pure Extract Tablets In Preventing The Metabolic Syndrome

Objective: To investigate the effect of Hawthorn pure extract tablets in the treatmentof metabolic syndrome.Methods: Altogether102metabolic syndrome patients (age45～85years) wereenrolled. All the patients were divided into two groups randomly to identify the effect ofhawthorn extract. These patients got basic treatment. The subject groups were treated withxuezhikang capsules and the control groups were treated with hawthorn extract pills. Thetherapeutic effectiveness was observed8weeks later. WC、HC、BP(SBP、DBP)、FPG、HbA1c、TC、TG、HDL-c、LDL-c and TCMSS were observed before and after treatment.Results:(1) Totally there were90patients completed the8-weeks observation. The number ofpatients who had completed the observation in the subject groups and the control groupswas30and60respectively.(2) Hawthorn pure extract tablets and Xuezhikang can make the BMI decreasedsignificantly (P＜0.05), and both lower BMI is not a significant difference (P＞0.05).Hawthorn pure extract tablets can make the can make TC, TG decreased, Xuezhikang canmake TC, TG decreased significantly (P <0.05), both the decline in TC、TG weresignificantly different (P <0.05). Hawthorn pure extract tablets increased HDL-c andlowed LDL-c, both groups showed no significant difference (P>0.05). Efficiency is64.3%in the lipid-lowering efficacy of hawthorn pure extract tablets. The efficiency ofXuezhikang is89.3%. The difference between the two was significant (P <0.05).(3) Hawthorn pure extract chipset fasting plasma glucose andglycosylatedhemoglobin decreased significantly (P <0.05), Xuezhikang group can also make the fastingplasma glucose and glucose hemoglobin decreased, but decreased significantly (P>0.05).No significant difference between the two groups on the decline in blood glucose (P>0.05).Group of hypoglycemic effect of hawthorn pure extract tablets35%, The XuezhikangGroup hypoglycemic efficacy of36.7%, both of the efficacies has no significantdifferences (P>0.05).(4) Hawthorn pure extract chipset can make BP(SBP、DBP) decreased significantly (P＜0.05), Xuezhik-ang group diastolic blood pressure significantly decreased (P＜0.05). Nosignificant differ-rence between the two groups on the decline in BP (P＞0.05).The antihypertensive effic-acy of Hawthorn pure extract tablets is76.7%and Xuezhikang group is66.7%. The two groups no significant differences (P>0.05).(5) Hawthorn pure extract tablets and Xuezhikang can significantly improve theTCM symptoms. Let the symptom score decreased significantly (P <0.05). The efficiencyof hawthorn pure extract tablets in improve the TCM symptoms integration is53.3%andthe efficiency is56.7%of Xuezhikang. The difference between the two was no significant(P>0.05).Conclusion: Hawthorn pure extract tablets and Xuezhikang are able to improve thestatus of hyperglycemia、hypertension, high cholesterol and obesity. The Lipid Metabolismof hawthorn pure extract tablets was slightly weaker than Xuezhikang, but it has thefunction of digestion of the plot、blood circulation、strengthening the immune system, alsohas the characteristics of Medicinal and Edible. So hawthorn pure extract tablets easier tobe accepted by the majority patients with metabolic syndrome than Xuezhikang capsules.
