Objective:To establish a benign esophageal structure model in rabbits. To observe the therapeutic effect of detachable stent on benign esophageal stricture model, and the detachablity in rabbit.Methods:40rabbits were anesthetized by intravenous injection of3%sodium pentobarbital, put in the Foley duct through ultra-slim gastroscope, making sure that the head of Foley duct lies in the lower part. We inject6%NaOH5mL into the Foley duct slowly. Then, after30seconds, inject20mL sterile distilled water in the same way. After2weeks, the rabbits were detected by ultra-slim gastroscope and esophagography to observe the narrow of esophagus.2rabbits having been successfully modeled were put to death, dissected the esophagus, measured the stricture index in vitro, performed general and histopathological examination. Rabbit models were randomly divided into3groups:Group A with no esophageal stent, Group B with routine stent, Group C with detachable stent. The stents’ location and shape were detected by X-ray esophagography. The weight of each rabbits is observed.6weeks later, we detached the stents in Group C.10weeks later, we put the living rabbits in each group to death, dissected the esophagus, measured the stricture index in vitro, performed general and histopathological examination.Results:1. The formation of stricture:Through the ultra-slim gastroscope and esophagography examination,35rabbits were modeled successfully after the alkaline burns.2. The location and shape of stents in Group B and C:through the esophagography examination, the stent of each rabbit in Group B and C lies in the lower segment of esophagus, no one was displacement.3. The detachablity of stents in Group C:each stent is detached. The operation is easy, and the takeout goes smoothly.4. The survival of rabbits:after alkalin burns,7rabbits in Group A died between week4and6,3died during week7to9, only1rabbit lived to the end of the observation.2rabbits in Group B died at week9,9rabbits lived to the end of the observation. The11rabbits in Group C were all live to the end of the observation.5. The weights of rabbits in each group:Group A’s was falling all through the experiment. Group B’s was falling during week1to3, and increasing during week6to9. Group C’s was the same with Group B.6. The narrow index of esophagus:compared with week2, Group A’s was increased (p<0.05), Group B’s and C’s were decreased (p<0.05).7. The general and histopathological examination:in Group A, the stricture was worsen. The stomach contains little food, which is mainly fluid. The histopathological examination shows ulosis. In Group B, the stent couldn’t been taken out easily, when separate the stent and esophageal carefully, some rabbits had a tresis in the lower part of the stent. The histopathological examination shows hyperplasia, ulcer and bleeding. In Group C, the stricture was lighten, and the histopathological examination shows hyperplasia, but without ulcer and bleeding. Conclusion: The alkaline burn is a effective way to establish a benign esophageal stricture in rabbits. The new detachable esophageal stents are therapeutic in the benign esophageal stricture models, and can be detached in rabbits.
