| OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression level of APP in osteosarcoma and osteochondroma and the relationship between the expression level of APP and clinical characteristics of osteosarcoma.MATERIALS AND METHODSWe collected40cases of osteosarcoma biopsy specimens from the Pathology Department of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University between June2006and June2010, which did not receive chemotherapy and radiotherapy. According to the Enneking Surgical Staging, they were divided into20cases of â…¡A category and20cases of â…¡B category. Meanwhile, We collected40cases of osteochondroma surgery resection specimens similar with osteosarcoma in age, gender, site as the negative control group. These specimens were fixed by10%formalin, embedded by paraffin and serially sectioned. Finally, we detected the expression levels of APP in the osteosarcoma and osteochondroma by immunohistochemistry, with PBS instead of anti-APP as the blank controls. Then we analyzed the relationship between the expression level of APP and the clinical pathological features of osteosarcoma. The results were analyzed with SPSS17.0statistical software. a=0.05was considered as the statistical criterion. 1.The expression level of APP in osteosarcoma was stronglypositive, and the average IOD was0.154003791. The expression level of APP in osteochondroma was weakly positive, and the average IOD was0.091580248. The differentiation had statistical significance(p<0.05).2.The expression level of APP was not related to age, sex, tumor celldifferentiation and pathologic classification (p>0.05), but was related to Enneking Surgical Staging (â…¡A, IIB)(p<0.05). CONCLUSION1. The expression level of APP is high in the osteosarcoma and islow in the osteochondroma.2. The expression level of APP in osteosarcoma is not related to age, sex, tumor cell differentiation and pathological classification, but is related to the Enneking Surgical Staging (â…¡A, â…¡B). |
