Passive immunotherapy, also known as adoptive immunotherapy, is a treatment of transferring the immune response products of the donor who has immunity against the disease to other individuals, or reinfusion of autologous cells handing in vitro to play the role of disease treatment. Cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells is a group of heterogeneous cells. Its main effector cell is CD3+CD56+cells. Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells in the induction of γ-IFN, anti-CD3McAb, IL-2and IL-1factors may gain plenty of high cytotoxic activity of CIK cells which have highly efficient and broad-spectrum anti-features. By inducing, the number and cytotoxic activity of CIK cells reached a peak in14-21days. Gastric cancer patients were treated with autologous cytokine-induced killer cells in vitro by biotechnology in this study. The clinical efficacy of chemotherapy in combination with cytokine-induced killer biotherapy (CIK treatment group) on the disease-free survival of gastric cancer patients compared to the chemotherapy alone (chemotherapy group) was evaluated by this test. The results show that:(1) The difference was not statistically significant in sex, age, tumor site, tumor size, histological type, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis or pathological grade;(2) The disease-free median survival time of gastric cancer patients was significantly longer in the CIK treatment group than in the chemotherapy group (39vs17months). The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);(3) Compared the chemotherapy group, the1-10times of CIK treatment group and CIK treatment more than10times group, the sets of survival curves difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). We can find that with the increase in times of CIK treatment, the risk of patients died of gastric cancer is significantly reduced. In summary, through the collection of the clinical data of gastric cancer patients and late return visits, completely controlling the treatment of gastric cancer patients, Comparing with the survival rates of chemotherapy alone and chemotherapy plus CIK cells in treatment of gastric cancer, exploring the correlation factors of CIK cells treatment and the disease-free survival of gastric cancer patients, we concluded that CIK cell therapy can make a gastric cancer patient’s own immune response enhancement, improve the efficacy and quality of life and significantly prolong the median survival time of gastric cancer patients. CIK cell therapy as a method of adoptive immunotherapy has a broad prospect for clinical application and may become a new strategy for tumor immunotherapy.
