ObjectiveThis study was to analyze the degree of job burnout and caring ability ofclinical nursing staff, explore the relationship between job burnout and careability of clinical n ursing staff, and provide the theoretical basis for takingmeasures to alleviate job burnout of nursing staff and improve caring ability ofnursing staff.MethodsThe subjects of the present study were formal or contractual nurses whoworked in First affiliated hospital of Liaoning Medical University and Jinzhoucentral hospital. By cluster sampling, stratified sampling and random sampling,the personal generally questionnaire, Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) andCaring Ability Inventory (CAI) were used to survey339clinical nursing staff. Thedata were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t test, one-way ANOVA, Pearsoncorrelation analysis and multiple stepwise regression of SPSS13.0statisticalsoftware package.Results1. Referenced to the standard of Maslach medical workers group, theresults of this study showed that three dimensions included emotionalexhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment of clinical nursingstaff were all at a higher level.2. Compared with international standards of caring ability score, the caringability level of clinical nursing staff was low,77.3%of nursing staff in caringability total score was at a low level, only8.3%of nursing staff in caring abilitywas at a high level.3. Because of the clinical nursing staff with difference in age, nursing age, hospital, department, forms of employment, education background, monthlyincome and marital status, there was significant difference in job burnout andcaring ability.4. Two dimensions of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization hadnegative correlation with caring ability total score, personal accomplishmentdimension had positive correlation with caring ability total score.5. Depersonalization, personal accomplishment, marital status and forms ofemployment can effectively predict caring ability of clinical nursing staff.Conclusions1. It was one of the serious problems that job burnout degree was higherside and caring ability level was on the lower side of clinical nursing staff in thetwo hospitals.2. It showed that the higher levels of emotional exhaustion anddepersonalization in job burnout were associated with the lower levels of thecaring ability of nursing staff,the stronger levels of personal accomplishmentwere associated with the higher levels of the caring ability of nursing staff.3. Depersonalization and personal accomplishment of job burnout wereimportant factors to affect the caring ability of clinical nursing staff, concernedabout the nursing staff burnout, and tried to reduce job burnout would helpimprove the caring ability of nursing staff.
