ObjectiveBy comparing immature follicle puncture (IMFP) through tansvaginal ultrasound andoral contraceptive (OC), to evaluate IMFP for the treatment of infertility patients withpolycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).Method149patients diagnosed as PCOS with infertility and treated in department ofgynecology of Liaocheng2nd hospital from April2009to March2011were divided intotwo groups: research and control group.74patients of control group who didn’t recoverspontaneous ovulation3months after OC treatment were taken a piece of the oraldesogestrel and ethinylestradiol tablets (mafulong) every day from menstrual the5th’ dayto the25th’ day, ovulation was detected after the third menstruation and they were guidedto sexual intercourse. IMFP were taken for75patients of research group the throughtransvaginal ultrasound. Records were followed up once a month six months aftertreatment including serum hormone level, the basic follicle number and the ovary volume, the menstrual period, body mass index, spontaneous ovulation and pregnancy rate percycle. General information was compared between two groups including serum hormonelevel, the basic follicle number, the ovary volume, furthermore the menstrual period, spontaneous ovulation and pregnancy rate.ResultBefore treatment no significant difference was found between the two groups in theage, year of infertility and Body Mass Index (BMI). The level of testosterone(T),rate of LHand FSH of research group were significantly lower after IMFP.The basic follicle count of63patients dropped to below10per ovary and the volume of ovary reduced significantly.43patients menstrual period shortened after the first month.32patients recoveredspontaneous ovulation and the pregnancy rate was44.2%within six months. The patients of control group were ameliorated in serum hormone level, the basic follicle number andthe ovary volume and there was significant difference between two groups. But the basicfollicle number, the ovary volume, menstrual period recovery, spontaneous ovulation rateand the pregnancy rate of the research group were better than the control group.ConclusionsThe IMFP and the OC treatment both could improve the serum hormone level, decrease the basic follicle number and the ovary volume. However, IMFP treatment wasbetter than OC in decreasing the basic follicle number, the ovary volume, menstrual periodrecovery, spontaneous ovulation rate and the pregnancy rate.IMFP was a safe and feasiblemethod for PCOS with infertility.
