PurposeTo investigate the expression of integrin beta1in papillary thyroid carcinoma, Inorder to explore the relationship between the expression of integrin beta1in papillarythyroid carcinoma and age, gender, lymph node metastasis, clinical pathological featuresand prognosis. To confirm the role of integrin beta1in the disease developing process ofthyroid papillary carcinomas occurring.MethodsCollect postoperative pathology of papillary thyroid carcinoma in120cases whichexclusion criteria of two operation, can be used for specimens of64cases in GeneralHospital of Jinan Military Area2000January-2007December with complete follow-updata, preoperative were not given, chemotherapy, Using immunohistochemical method,Detection the expression of integrin beta1in cancer tissues, Analysis relationship betweenthe expression of integrin beta1and in patients with tumor stage, age, sex and lymph nodemetastasis by rank sum test and Spearman method correlation analysis method.ResultsIn the collection of specimens, there was no expression or less expression in thenormal tissues and thyroid adenoma, and the expression was strong in papillary thyroidcarcinoma and surrounding area.1. Integrin beta1expression increased significantly in association with papillarythyroid carcinoma pathological levels in tumor tissue. There were41pathological I/IIcases of64patients in this study and28cases were positive expression of all, clinicalstage、, there were22cases were positive expression in23pathologica III/IV in all cases, its average score is8.0(11.8).2. In tumor tissue, the levels in the cases with lymph node metastasis weresignificantly higher than those without lymph node metastasis disease. To compare scorebetween26cases with lymph node metastasis and no lymph node metastasis, the results showed positive expression rate of96%, scored11.5of those cases with lymph nodemetastasis, and the positive expression rate was65%, the average score of7.8of the caseswith no lymph node metastasis, there was significant difference between the two recordsthrough statistical analysis.3. In the64cases of papillary carcinoma of thyroid tissue, there were31cases thatdiameters of tumors were smaller than2cm, and the average score of9.58;There were20cases that maximal tumor size less than4cm but longer than2cm, the average score of9;Maximum tumor diameter>4cm in13cases, the average score of9.53. The analysisshowed no statistical significance in those dates.4. There are41cases less than45years in the samples, the average score was9.41ofintegrin beta1expression, the positive expression rate of80%; older than45years in23cases, average score of9.34, the positive expression rate of78%. It had no significantstatistical difference between the two groups.5. There were17male cases in the examples and the average score was8.4of integrinbeta1expression, female47cases, the average score was9.7of integrin beta1, it had nosignificant statistical difference between the two groups.Conclusion1. There is associated relationship between integrin beta1expression and clinicalstage of papillary thyroid carcinoma, the expressing of pathological levels increases withclinical stage.2. The expression levels of integrin beta1is associated with metastatic, higherintegrin beta1expression level in higher metastatic thyroid carcinoma.3. There is not significant correlation between integrin beta1expression and genderor age of thyroid papillary carcinoma patients.4. There had no significant correlation between integrin beta1expression andpapillary thyroid carcinoma tissue size5. Integrin beta1can be taken as a papillary thyroid cancer diagnosis, monitoringand biological markers.
