Clinical Observation On The Treatment Of Vitiligo With308-nm Excimer Laser And Fluticasone Propionate Cream

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy andcomplications of308-nm excimer laser and Fluticasone Propionate creamin treating localized and progressive vitiligo.Methods: Eighty-two Chinese patients with localized andprogressive vitiligo with a total of128lesions were enrolled in this study.They were assigned to two groups for their different treatments randomly:the combined group:sixty lesions received308nm excimer laser twiceper week with combination of0.05%Fluticasone Propionate cream oncenightly for two months;the controlled group::sixty-eight lesions received308nm excimer laser twice per week for two months. In this study308nmexcimer laser were operated by the same doctor who shuold write downunwanted effects after the first treatment, such as itching, burning, blistersand their duration, handling.The lesions were evaluated fortreatment-related side effects after the initial treatment and clinicalefficacy at1month and2months after the treatment by two or moredermatologists followed the efficacy assessment criteria.Results: The total effective rate of combined group was higher thancontrol group after1month and2months’ treatment. There wassignificant difference between two groups (P<0.05). The effect ofcombined group was superior to that of control group to the vitiligouslesions located on head and neck (P<0.05).However, there was nostatistical significance between two groups in the effective rate of otherparts (P>0.05). No serious adverse events were recorded in both groups.The unwanted effects rate of combined group was lower than thatof control group, but there was no statistical significance betweencombined and control groups.Conclusions: Combination treatment with308nm excimer laser andFP is much more effective in treatment of localized and progressivevitiligo than are308nm excimer laser used alone, especially when lesionson head and neck.
