| Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) is a kind of serious disease. It has very complicated pathology which is difficult to cure. Related department put huge labor and money in the research of SCI medicines and treatment every year. In order to test the curative effect of different medicines, a large number of SCI models are needed.The making of SCI models usually takes rats or other animals as the testing target, hurting their spinal to imitate the state of humans’spinal cord injury. There are several types of SCI model, mainly including contusion SCI model, cutting and excision SCI model, clamping and oppressing SCI model as well as photochemical induced SCI model, in which the contusion SCI model made by weighting dropping is the most widely used and it was invented by Allen. The widely use of weighting dropping is because the models it create are very similar to human SCI and it can also bring about different injury degrees’ SCI models by adjusting the dropping heights and the hitting objects’ weights.In the fast, the doctors rate the exercise capacities of the injured animals to distinguish the injury degrees of the animals, such as observing if the four limbs of the rat are sound. But this way can only distinguish the injury degrees very roughly and it is lack of more intuitive evaluation of the injury.In order to solve the problem above, we designed the spinal cord injury force measuring system. The system can use different weights of objects to fall from different heighs and measuring the impacting force curve of spinal cord suffer, by analysis the curve we can know the biggest impacting force, action time and the total impulse that effecting on the spinal cord of the animalThe spinal cord injury force measuring system use stepper motor to adjust the dropping heights and the hitting positions. The impacting force data is measured by Handyprobe HP3, a portable difference USB oscilloscope, and the data can be displayed on the computer screen. After a serious of experiments, we got the data of the impacting force’s total impulses, and we calculated the function between the dropping heights and the total impulses by applying the least-square method with good program. |
