ObjectivesTo observe the variation of the asymmentric dimethylarginine (ADMA)、nitric oxides-ynthase (NOS) and nitric oxide (NO) level in plasma of gestational diabetes mellitus (G-DM) who was in prenatal and in postpartum six weeks, meanwhile, study the correlationbetween the level of ADMA and age、body mass index (BMI)、fasting blood glucose (FBG),postprandial blood glucose (PPG), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c). The aim is to discuss t-he effect of ADMA on endothelial dysfuction in GDM and the influence factors,so as to pr-ovide the new orientation and experimental bases for the prevention and treatment ofGDM.MethodsAccording to the diagnosis standard of the American Diabetes Association, selected n-ormal pregnant women20cases, patients with GDM20cases with more than28weeks pre-gnancy. Application of high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) method to determine the plasma ADMA level in pregnancy and postnatal6weeks, while NOS kit and NO k-it method to respectively determine the activity of NOS and NO content in plasma. Recordpatients age, BMI, FBG, PPG and HbA1c, comparing the ADMA level under different infl-uence factors and the correlation between them.Results1. There were no significant differences between normal pregnant group and GDM gr-oup in age and body mass index. Compared with normal pregnant group, GDM group hadstatistically significant differences in fasting blood glucose,1-hour postprandial blood glu-cose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose and HbA1c (P<0.05).2. In pregnancy, the plasma ADMA level in GDM group (1.07±0.30) was higher than that in normal pregnant group (0.63±0.14), the NOS activity (22.17±1.76), NO level(81.09±14.58) in GDM group are lower than that in normal pregnant group, the differencewas statistically significant (P<0.05).3. Postpartum6weeks, the plasma ADMA level in GDM group (0.86±0.24) washigher than that in normal pregnant group (0.57±0.12); the NOS activity (24.49±2.91) in GDM group was lower than that in normal pregnant group (26.87±3.10); meanwhile NO lev-el (86.67±13.36) was lower than that in normal pregnancy group (90.26±14.14), there wasa statistically significant difference (P<0.05).4. In the GDM group, there were changes of the ADMA level between pregnancy(1.07±0.30) and postpartum6weeks (0.86±0.24), and the changes was statistically signify-cant (P<0.05); similarly there were changes of the NOS activity between pregnancy (22.17±1.76) and postpartum6weeks (24.49±2.91)(P<0.05), and changes of the NO level between pregnancy (86.67±13.36) and postpartum6weeks (90.26±14.14)(P<0.05).5. The plasma ADMA level in GDM was positively correlated with advanced age,BMI (included pregestational BMI, gestational BMI, postpartum6weeks’BMI),1hPPGand Hb A1c.Among this the BMI, HbA1c and the plasma ADMA level had highly corre-lations; although the advanced age was correlated with the plasma ADMA level, thecorrelation coefficient was low; the statistic analysis among the pregnance show that therewas no statistically significant difference, but the1hPPG was lowly correlated with the pla-sma ADMAlevel, the correlation coefficient was0.230.Conclusions1. The plasma ADMA level of GDM patients in pregnancy and postpartum6weeks a-re both higher;the activity of NOS and the plasma NO level of GDM patients in pregna-ncy and postpartum6weeks are both lower. And there are changes between the pregnancya nd the postpartum6weeks.2. Advanced age, BMI (included pregestational BMI, gestational BMI, postpartum6w eeks’BMI),1hPPG and HbA1c are both the influence factors of ADMA.
