Acanthopanax sessiliflorus (R-upr.et Maxim.)Seem belongs to Acanthopanax and spicy, non-toxic, with a strong tonic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effects. Materia Medica records:the root bark of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus is a traditional Chinese medicine. Acanthopanax sessiliflorus has the efficacyes of rheumatism, liver and kidney, strong effect bones and live blood.Nowadays, experts and scholars of domestic and foreign aways study its root, but study about leaves of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus is very few.A comprehensive review was finished based on overall literature related to resource, chemical constituents and pharmacological activity of leaves of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus (R-upr.et Maxim.)Seem, which provided useful information for its further study on these aspects. In this study Acanthopanax sessiliflorus were extracted with fifty percent of the ethanol; The total extract of the leaves of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus pass through D101macroporous resin, and obtained the ethanol parts of the different concentration gradient; The parts of the different concentration gradient was screened in vitro antioxidant activity, and selected the parts of strong antioxidant activity by normal phase chromatography. The study was used for determining the antioxidant activity of the extract of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus (R-upr.et Maxim.)Seem in vitro antioxidant activity by four methods. They were DPPH, ABTS, Reducing power and Folin phenol. The results show that thirty percent of the ethanol part had strong antioxidant activity, ten percent of the ethanol part was second. Two pats of strong antioxidant activity were isolated by normal phase chromatography. Obtained hyperin from ten percent of the ethanol part, and obtained three compounds isolated in the experiments identified by chemical reaction, phytochemical properties and spectral analysis (MS), structures of them was elucidated as lignanoids. They are Acanthoside D, hyperin, chlorogenic acid.Evaluating the hepatoprotective effect of the leaves of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus aqueous extract in preventive liver injury by alcoholic liver injury model and carbon tetrachloride liver injury model. The results show that decoction of the leaves of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus can reduce the content of ALT and MDA than Negative group in alcoholic liver injury model, and the content close to the positive group. The decoction of the leaves of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus can reduce the content of ALT and MDA than Negative group in carbon tetrachloride liver injury model. In two models, three dose groups of the leaves of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus aqueous extract has a visible dose-effect manner, and preventive effect of high-dose was very clear on the liver. In this study, hyperin and chlorogenic acid as two index in the using of HPLC chromatography inspect product quality for the bud tea of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus. The contents of total flavonoid and polysaccharides in the bud tea of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus were determined by UV-eyeable spectrophotometry. The contents of total saponin in the bud tea of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus were determined by saponin. The quality of the bud tea of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus had a comprehensive evaluation from various aspects, it provided a strong scientific data for the product development.
