Objective:Explore the relationship between hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy and the plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan, to provide a monitoring indicator for the early recognition of the severity of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.Methods:High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to measure the plasma content of tryptophan and its metabolites kynurenine in normal pregnancy, gestational hypertensive, preeclampsia mild, preeclampsia severe women4group (each group of15cases), and to analyze of the plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan. Results:The plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan were0.28±0.056in normal pregnancy woman and0.27±0.034in gestational hypertensive. Then the ratio was decreased to0.18±0.044in preeclampsia mild and0.12±0.039in preeclampsia severe women. Compared with normal pregnancy and gestational hypertensive, the plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan in preeclampsia mild and preeclampsia severe was significantly lower. The plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan in preeclampsia mild was larger than preeclampsia severe. The difference of the plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan was inconspicuous in normal pregnancy woman and in gestational hypertensive woman.Conclusions:1.The plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan was correlated with the severity of the disease in gestational hypertension.2. The smaller plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan, the more serious hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy; in the clinical, according to the change of plasma ratio of kynurenine to tryptophan, one of monitoring indexes might to be provide for us to judge the severity of the disease...
