Objective: The incidence of aplastic anemia caused by chronicbenzene poisoning in children showed an increasing trend, but itspathogenesis is not clear. This study was to investigate the changes ofoxidative stress indicators and T lymphocyte subsets and immunoglobulinin the blood of benzene poisoning associated aplastic anemia children.Methods:35cases of children aplastic anemia caused by chronic benzenepoisoning and25cases of control were recorded in this study. Peripheralblood T lymphocyte subsets were detected by flow cytometry. The levelof immunoglobulin (IgA, IgM and IgG) was detected by immunenephelometry. SOD was detected by xanthine oxidase method and MDAwas detected by thiobarbituric method. AA group and normal controlgroup were compared using unvaried analysis of variance and figured outand analyzed with SPSS13.0statistics software Package. Results:1. Theantioxidant indicators, serum SOD of chronic benzene poisoning childrenwas significantly lower than control group, MDA was significantly higherthan control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01).2.CD3~+T cells of aplastics anemia patients did not change significantly,CD8~+T cells were increased, CD4~+T cells and CD4~+/CD8~+ratio weredecreased, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).3. Chronicbenzene poisoning in children compared with normal control group, increased IgG, IgA, reduce and IgM were significant changes. Thedifference was statistically significant (P <0.01). Conclusions:1. Thelipid peroxidation and radicals increased in the body of children with chronic benzene which prompt long-term chronic poisoning can lead tothe body’s antioxidant children diminished capacity.2. CD3~+T cells didnot change significantly, CD4~+T cells and CD4~+/CD8~+ratio decreased inthe serum of children with chronic benzene, suggesting that thedevelopment of chronic benzene poisoning of children is closelyassociated with aplastic anemia. The increasing of CD8~+T cells may beclosely related with benzene poisoning.Abnormal of immune parameterscan be used for monitoring and testing of benzene poisoning children.3.Abnormal immune parameters can be used for the monitoring anddetection of benzene poisoning in children. Varying degrees of damagewere found in humoral immune of children by serological detection ofimmunoglobulin because of the chronic organic benzene, suggesting thatstrengthen prevention and protection measures for children is verynecessary.
