Objective: To investigate the expression of tumor necrosis factor-relatedapoptosis-inducing ligand receptor1(death receptor4,DR4) in human tissuesof hepatocellular carcinoma and benign liver tumors, and the relationshipbetween clinicopathological feature and HCC.Methods: Immunohistochemical staining was used to further examinethe expression of DR4in HCC, liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular adenoma, hepatic hemangioma and hepatic cyst tissues. The relationship betweenclinicopathological feature and HCC was analyzed. Results ofimmunohistochemical staining were analyzed by Fisher’S exact test andcorrelation analysis using Spearman rank correlation. Results: The immunohistochemical data showed the expression of DR4was weak positive expression in hepatic hemangioma and hepatic cyst group, and the positive expression rate of DR4was90%. The expression of DR4wasmoderate positive expression in liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular adenomagroup, and the positive expression rate of DR4was90.91%and90.00%. Theexpression of DR4was strongly positive expression in hepatocellularcarcinoma with cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma without cirrhosisgroup, and the positive expression rate of DR4was93.33%and96.67%. DR4was mainly expressed in the cytoplasm in hepatocellular carcinoma withoutcirrhosis group, but strongly expressed in the cytoplasm and cell membrane in hepatocellular carcinoma with cirrhosis group. The expression of DR4waspositively correlated with HCC differentiation(r=0.415,P<0.05) and thedegree of malignancy of the disease (r=0.657,P<0.05), and negativelycorrelated with HCC TNM staging(r=-0.332,P<0.05).Conclusion: The expression of DR4was gradually increased with thedevelopment of the disease. The expression of DR4is helpful to diagnosehepatocellular adenoma. The over-expression DR4is correlated with theformation and development of HCC. It may be a prognostic marker for thediagnosis of HCC and be associated with the degree of differentiation. It canbe used as a marker for prognostic prediction of HCC.
