Objective:To analyze average level of the content of Magnesium in peripheral blood among target population in order to provide a scientific basis for unifying the reference value of Magnesium in whole blood. Investigate the deficiency of Magnesium and try to solve the issue of Magnesium deficiency. Analyze the difference of the Magnesium content among sex groups, age groups and provinces. This will provide reasonable basis to prevent the deficiency of Magnesium. Methods:According to cluster method, we select112645healthy children aged0to6years as research objects from nutrition survey and child care medical examination without acute or chronic disease, but good physical development, whose examination showed no obvious abnormalities, between2006and2010Distribution of9provinces in China. We use BH5100Multi-channel flame atomic to absorption the content of Magnesium in Peripheral Blood. To determine and analyze the content of Magnesium in blood among healthy children aged0to6years.We also used the Percentiles to establish the reference value of Magnesium.Results:1. The survey covered nine provinces in Central China, East China, South China, North China, Northeast, Southwest and Northwest regions, mainly children are0to6years old, and this survey investigated a total of112,645cases, including the boy62,622cases,50,023cases of girls. All ages the cases of boys were higher than girls.2. There was significant differences Magnesium content among different age groups.(P<0.05) But the peripheral blood magnesium levels among age groups were within the normal reference range. The content of Magnesium had not changed with the growth of age.3. There was significant differences Magnesium content among nine provinces.(P<0.05) In the analysis of level, the nine provinces in population aged0to6years average level of Magnesium in blood from top to end was as follows:Zhejiang, Liaoning, Shanxi, Hebei, Sichuan, Fujian, Guangdong, Gansu and Hubei. Liaoning infant blood was the highest Magnesium level among the nine provinces. Zhejiang toddler, preschooler blood Magnesium level was higher than other provinces. Gansu infant blood Copper level was higher and have lower blood copper level in toddler group and preschooler group. 4. There was significant differences Magnesium content among age groups in different provinces.(P<0.05)5. The deficiency of Magnesium content increased with the growth of age. There were significant differences between boys and girls.(P<0.05) The preschool girls’peripheral blood magnesium deficiency is the highest. Infancy boys’peripheral blood magnesium deficiency is the lowest. Between different provinces the deficiency of children peripheral blood magnesium has no obvious difference. Conclusion:The deficiency of Magnesium content increased with the growth of age, we attributed it to the food intake, dietary pattern and the feeding practices. The differences of Magnesium content between different provinces were lead to economic level, natural environment, cultural conventions and the dietary pattern. The reference values of peripheral blood Magnesium will provide an available implement for deficiency of magnesium guide the children nutrition and promote the healthy growth of children.
