Object:To have e detailed picture of school-age children’s eyesight status, and the main factors that caused their low vision and myopia in Zhouqu County of Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Gansu province.Methods:During May2012the census work of knowing school-age children’s eyesight status was implemented through visual inspection, conventional ophthalmic examination, that included cornea under slit lamp examination,refractive stroma examination, fundus examination, corneal reflection light inspection and the cover to cover check,etc.We did the small pupil diopter check,and to the naked eye vision less than0.8children,subjective optometry to get best corrected vision.Before ophthalmic clinical examination, through the teacher of each class, maked children guardian fill out the questionnaire about children’s the habit of using eyes at ordinary times,whether parents had myopia, children’s reading distance information and daily outdoor activity time.All data was input into Excel software, to establish a database, using SPSS19software, with analyzed the relationships between children with low vision or myopia and gender, ethnic, age.Analyzed these factor,including parents’ being myopia,daily time watching TV,daily homework time,reading distance,daily outdoor activity time,with logistic regression.The results were compared with other domestic epidemiological data.Results1.Altogether536people with low vision were identified through survey and the rate was21.12%. Among those people, the boy prevalence rate was9.54%;Besides, the girl prevalence rate was11.58%.The Han nationality prevalence rate was15.45%, and the prevalence rate was Tibetan nationality5.67%.The6-7years old children prevalence rate was2.68%, the8-9years old prevalence rate was3.55%, and the10-11years old prevalence rate was5.67%, the12years old and above prevalence rate was9.22%.Among those people, the number of myopia patients accounted for80.59%and the prevalence rate was17.02%. Besides, the prevalence rate of presbyopia was2.05%, the one of amblyopia2.16%, the one of strabismus1.02%, the one of ocular trauma0.95%, and the one of congenital eye disease0.71%.2.Altogether432people with myopia were identified through survey and the rate was17.02%. Among those people, the boy prevalence rate was7.33%;Besides, the girl prevalence rate was9.69%.The Han nationality prevalence rate was12.69%, and the prevalence rate was Tibetan nationality4.33%.The6-7years old children prevalence rate was1.81%, the8-9years old prevalence rate was2.68%, and the10-11years old prevalence rate was4.41%, the12years old and above prevalence rate was8.12%.Conclusion1.The prevalence rate of low vision was related with several factors such as one’s gender and he/she is a minority or not. The rate increased with age and the myopia was the primary element that would cause low vision.2.The prevalence rate of myopia was related with several factors such as one’s gender and he/she is a minority or not. The rate increased with age.Besides this,other factors were parents’ being myopia,daily time watching TV,daily homework time,reading distance,daily outdoor activity time.
