Occupational injuries often occur among the labor groups in society, so they seriously threaten the lives and health of workers, and they are easy to bring huge economic and social burden. Occupational injuries have become the important public health problems in the developed and developing countries.In this paper, take C City for instance, we conduct a retrospective epidemiological investigation and analysis on occupational injuries that occurred in this area from 2004 to 2008, describe epidemiological characteristics of the occupational injuries among workers, analysis occupational accident distribution and the causes, and propose countermeasures in order to provide scientific evidences for controlling occupational injuries and reducing the occupational accident rate.At the first, the theory of occupational injury epidemiology is described briefly.Second, we collate occupational injury workers data from 2004 to 2008, use SPSS software for statistical analysis, and find the distribution of injured people are significant gender differences in male-dominated, majority of the injured employees are 30 to 39 years old, work age focus in 0~4 years; in time there is aggregation, the third and fourth quarter for the period is high, February is the month which has the lowest number of occupational injuries, the mainly injured parts is upper and lower limbs and head; multiple types of jobs concentrated in the operator, welding and electrician, fitter, driver, lathe operator, maintenance worker, injury grade distribution differences are significant,10 is the largest rank of Occupational injuries.Third, by collating and analyzing accident report data from 2004 to 2008, it finds that the number of Occupational accidents is in the overall downward trend by years; it mainly happens in the manufacturing, construction and quarrying, multiple categories are fall height, object strikes, mechanical injury, Small and Medium Enterprises have high accident rate. By Analysis of the reasons for Occupational accidents, "violation of operating procedures and labor discipline"(42.94%) is the top which belongs to people’s unsafe behavior, the second and third reasons are "equipment, facilities, tools, accessories flawed", "missing or defective safety measures," which belong to the insecurity things.In the end, this paper takes eight injury prevention and control measures, such as the establishment of a sound regulatory framework to prevent Occupational injuries, building a sound management system to prevent injury, strengthen supervision of production safety, strengthen corporate responsibility for production safety, give full play to the prevention functions of the Occupational injury insurance, build a comprehensive injury prevention and control information systems, strengthen safety education and skills training, strengthen the supervision by public opinion, foster intermediary organizations.
