A Research On The Characteristics Of Japanese Bildungsroman In Novels Of Jiromonogatari

The research range of this paper focuses on Bildungsroman of Modern Japanese literature. Through analyzing prominent representative work among Bildungsroman Jiromonogatari by Simomurakojin, and other novels in Japan and Western, this paper compares and contrasts the characteristics of Japanese Bildungsroman. On the basis of context analysis, this paper adopts the method of aesthetics interpretation of Japanese literature and art, and comparative cultureThe story of Jiro, written by Simomurakojin, is a novel about the growth of adopted child. The novel depictes Hondajiro from childhood of adoption to mental development of teenagers. This novel, full of the characteristic of autobiography, describes that the protagonist either longs for maternal love ,with rebelling emotion, or struggles against all kinds of contradictions from himself and society during his growing up. This novel is a typical representative work.The whole research point was put on the bildungsroman’s definition,content and the characteristics,this three-layer area’s analysis. The content from seceding from the mouth of poverty and squeezing to the upper class society,determine the individual orientation,pursuing the road of arts etc…these three layer areas to explore,and the characteristics that arises can be summarize as the following few points:Japan emphasize on the pursuing of human relationship harmony,the anti-social awareness in the Japan bildungsroman is not well explicit,the Japan bildungsroman is more of approving reality,the traditional morals strongly dominate the masters of those seeking for growth,Japan has artistry roman,but lack of the artist bildungsroman, chooing“wander”can be treated as means of handling thomy problems,and seeking cormfort from the nature etc…...
