Study on the preservation and inheritance of ethnic folk art should pay attentionand care to the “folk nature” of culture inheritance and its ethnicity, popularity as wellas the ecological change between tradition and modernity in digitalized settings. Fromthe perspective of art communication and art receiving, a transdisciplinaryresearch—Artistry, Culture Ecology, Folklore and Communication, has been conductedto find out Huayao Yi’s living state and the culture ecological change of their traditionalcustoms by studying their finery art. Then outline of its culture ecological system willbe drawn out systematically and generally. Systemic and comprehensive analysis will becarried out on the issue of culture ecology of Huayao Yi finery art under the context ofnon-material culture heritage protection and tourist economy of developing nationalculture, aiming at emphasizing the “dynamic nature” of this art, considering art bodies’value, belief, ideology and aesthetic change displayed in digitalized settings. Digital arttechnology and conception of protecting and inheriting Huayao Yi’s finery art arecombined to investigate the concrete and detailed program of protecting and continuingthis art in digitalized settings.This paper includes three parts, namely, introduction, main body and conclusion. Inthe first part (introduction), the author presents the statements and discusses thesignificances of this research, the current situation of the researches on cultural ecologyand the Huayao Yi’s finery art together with the research aim and contents. In the mainbody of this paper, the author focuses on the cultural-ecological changes of the HuayaoYi’s finery art in the digitalized settings and the application of digital techniques to theinheritance and protection of the Huayao Yi’s finery art. To be specific, chapter one “thesketch introduction of Huayao Yi’s finery art” is a comprehensive survey of the HuayaoYi, its culture and art, and its finery art characters. Chapter two “culture ecology ofHuayao Yi’s finery art in digitalized settings”, based on the relevant field work, theauthor systematically analyzes the impacts of such digital media as television, mobilephone and internet on the living habits and beliefs of the Huayao Yi people. In chapterthree “preservation and inheritance of Huayao Yi finery art”, this paper tries to exploresome effective means for the preservation and inheritance of the Huayao Yi’ clothing artfrom the angle of graphic data, database construction, digital clothing exhibition, andthe digital use in costume art. Based on the analysis and discussion in the previous parts, the author draws the conclusion in the last part. The unique finery art of the Huayao Yiis facing increasingly complicated and various cultural ecological changes. It is crucialto perfect related measures to protect and inherit the Huayao Yi’s clothing art. It isequally crucial to pay attention to the changes of social circumstances on which folkarts rely. The government, scholars, relevant enterprise and cultural institutes shouldwork together to apply digital art techniques to the process of inheritance, finding outmore sensible and effective ways to protect and inherit the clothing art of the HuayaoYi.
