Studies On Appellation Terms Of Rizhao Dialect

The difference degree of each kind of vocabulary is different in the inner part of dialect vocabulary, and the difference degree of appellation terms is more prominent in all kinds of vocabulary. All forms of expressions that dealt with the relationships and used for directional appellation among main bodies who participate in social intercourse are called appellation terms in this thesis. There are some nouns which the difference degree is bigger in the inner part of Northern dialect vocabulary, for example, relatives appellation terms, wedding and funeral, body, disease, disease and medication, time, character, astronomy, geography, human motion, adverb, and so on. A large proportion of the nouns are appellation terms which is an important aspect of the investigation and research of dialect vocabulary. In the previous investigation and research of dialect vocabulary, appellation terms belong to different categories, for example, appellation, relatives, character, pronoun, figure, adjective, disease and medication, wedding and funeral, and so on. We neglect appellation terms as an interlinked integral and lack overall analysis and research on the appellation terms of dialect vocabulary.The Research idea of the thesis is on the basis of a detailed investigation of Rizhao dialect’s appellation terms. We meticulously divide and tightly conclude appellation terms, make integrated use of some research methods, for example, description, tabulation, analysis, compare, and so on. In the end, we try our best to sum up clearly and comprehensively characteristics and distribution of appellation terms. After that, we make use of the written remains of appellation terms in Rizhao dialect’s diachronic materials; pursue the laws of diachronic evolution of Rizhao dialect’s appellation terms. In addition, in the course of the study, we make an attempt to interpret some special language phenomenon in the appropriate linguistic theory in, and correlate valuably the dialect vocabulary study with the folk-custom and social culture. The research process not only is useful for the vocabulary study of Rizhao dialect, but also is of great value for the minute studies and investigation of Chinese dialect vocabulary. The thesis contains four parts. Thereinto, the second part and third part are the key points of this thesis.The introduction part mainly introduces general situation of Rizhao dialect, including general situation of municipal districts of Rizhao, attribution and characteristics of Rizhao dialect, illustrate the concept classification and of appellation terms, and point out the current situation, purpose, method, meaning of the studies on appellation terms of Rizhao dialect.The second part analyses the synchronic type of Rizhao dialect’s appellation terms. First, the part minutely discusses social terms, kinship terms, name, personal pronoun and appellation terms surrounding name and personal pronoun. Thereinto, it is emphatically introduced that the characteristic of social terms and kinship terms. And we attempt to do the holistic studies of appellation terms, which combined with name, personal pronoun and appellation terms surrounding name and personal pronoun. The holistic studies mainly involve four parts:terms based on the tones of other relatives, fictive use of kinship terms, direct appellation and indirect appellation, homonymy and synonymy.The third part explores the diachronic evolution of Rizhao dialect’s appellation terms. Basing on the two diachronic text of Rizhao dialect, the part re-organizes all the remaining appellation terms of diachronic materials according to the synchronic classified standard of the last part, and compared the remaining appellation terms with the current appellation terms of Rizhao dialect. During the process of organizing and comparing, we try to reveal the specific changes of appellation terms and rationally explain the evolving trends and reasons of the different types of appellation terms.The conclusion part mainly expatiates upon three conclusions according to the analysis and studies of the thesis:First, there are closed relations among the appellation terms of Rizhao dialect. Second, there is developmental disequilibrium among the appellation terms of Rizhao dialect. Third, the appellation terms of Rizhao dialect are gradually getting close to the appellation terms of Mandarin Chinese.To a certain extent, the appellation terms of Rizhao dialect and Mandarin Chinese are the same, but the appellation terms take an important position in the synchronic and diachronic comparison study of Rizhao dialect. The holistic studies of Rizhao dialect’s appellation terms not only break through the established practice of dialect investigation, but also re-establish the special position in studies of Chinese dialects.
