Behind the phenomenon of the 1990s modern poetry "marginalization", the whole literature moved from center position to the edge, and developed from uniformity to diversity. This meant that literature returned to itself. On the other hand,1990s commercial culture context made Chinese literature confront the unprecedented challenges and tests, and began a totally transformation. The voice of "marginalization" just reflected the worry about the transition of modern poetry. This article is divided into five parts:The introduction part:Define the meaning of "1990s modern poetry" and "marginalization"; make a general introduction of two different views and initially explain my standpoint. The second part:The performance of the 1990s modern poetry marginalization. Elaborate why poet and poetry fall from the center of the social culture to the edge mainly from two aspects--the identity of the poet and the status of the poetry. The third part: The reasons of 1990s modern poetry marginalization. From the changes of historical context and the thinking mode of people cognition, analyze the external environment of the 1990s modern poetry. Explore the internal environment of .the 1990s new poetry from disparaging coming from various movements and modernity pursuit of the new poetry itself. Find the reasons of the 1990s new poetry marginalization from the internal and the external. The fourth part: The query about the 1990s modern poetry marginalization. Show the poets’and researchers’question about the 1990s modern poetry marginalization from their speeches. The Conclusive Part:Attitude to the marginalization; appeal for reconstruction of the aesthetic rationality. The view of this article:In 1990s, the situation of the whole serious literature slid to the edge. However, marginalization can’t be established if we only consider the development of the modern poetry itself. This conclusion is related to the thinking mode and inertia in cognition, and also related to the characteristics of the modern art—new poetry showed in its own development. The voice of "marginalization" indicates that people are not accustomed to some of the new artistic features about modern poetry. This reveals the lack of aesthetic rationality. Meanwhile, the voice of "marginalization" allows us to see the market-oriented and mass media bring the modern poetry vitality and constraint, also let us think about how the modern poetry seeks its own resistance in this situation.
