Relation Between Shengyang College Students’ Adjustment,Parental Attachment And Separation-individuation

University is a critical stage for Student from the family to the community andgradually separate. College Students’ adjustment not only affects their physical andmental development, but also has wider implications for their adult development.Parental attachment and separation-individuation are two very important aspects ofthe individual growth process, plays a key role for College student. In this study,based on the understanding of college students school adjustment,we explore therelationships of these factors.Based on a questionnaire survey of500college students, this study establishes andvalidates a theoretical model through a structural equation model and explores theinteractive relationship model of college adjustment,parental attachment andseparation-individuation. The results show:(1) Students’ college adjustment is good but the development is not balanced, livingadjustment is best, followed by the environment overall identity, occupation choice,role adjustment, interpersonal adjustment, learning adjustment and mental symptomsneed to be improved(2) Significant gender difference can be found in learning adjustment andenvironment overall identity with girl students greatly better than boy students;significant gender difference can be found in environment overall identity with boystudents greatly better than girl students; significant grade difference can be found inoccupation choice adjustment with Freshman greatly better than Senior.(3) Significant gender difference can be found in parental attachment with girlstudents greatly better than boy students; significant gender difference can be found inseparation-individuation with boy students greatly better than girl students.(4)Parental attachment and separation-individuation play a striking predictable role incollege adjustment(5) Separation-individuation play parts of the intermediary role for parentalattachment and college adjustment.
