The site of Baoen temple in Nanjing is one of the ten archaeological discoveries in China. Changgan temple underground palace which could compare favourably with Famen temple in the Tang Dynasty is a Buddhist treasury in Song. It hides the extremely important artifacts that need engaged in religious、historical、 archaeological、cultural and other aspects of home and abroad expects to explore together. The discovery and unearthed relics of Buddha’s parietal bone provided a golden opportunity for the development and utilization of Nanjing Buddhist cultural resources. However, the relatively close preserving surroundings in the past have been changed by the local excavation since2008, kinds of environmental geological disasters in the site, such as seepage and pit-wall collapse, are led that must be taken engineering measures to conquer. Rescuing underground palace ruins must solve the problem of seepage and borehole collapse. At the same time it also must prevention and cure other environmental geological diseases. The underground palace is threatened by extermination without emergency measures to salvage, so the protection for the underground palace has no time to delay. Overseas or at home, no example for research on preventing seepage from site underground palace except for this site. The systemic protection use of cultural relic and the consistent preserve exhibition of cultural relic are carried through this research. The hydrological geological condition, transformation analysis of three kinds of water, the wall of underground palace seepage analysis, and protecting measures of site are studied in this research. Comprehensive exploration shows that existing seepage control project is not comprehensive. Used scene hydrological geological test in study concluded the hydrogeological parameter in site area. Site area surface disturbance of soil is fine-grained sandstone layer, the permeability coefficient is larger. In addition to disturbance of soil, soil belongs to the silty sand、heavy loam and clay mixed layer, which are aquitard. The three kinds of water in site existing state and the transformation among them are studied. the underwater seepage channel of site are pointed out, the sources of within underground palace hydrops are put forward. The effect of surface water of the site for the groundwater environment of the underground palace is smaller, precipitation greater impact on the underground palace at the bottom of water. On the basis of site reconnaissance, the effects on the within underground palace hydrops under rainfall are studied systemically, the sources of within underground palace hydrops are determined, the effects on underground palace under water seepage are analysed. By traversing the hydrological geological conditions in the whole site, a set of new integrated protecting measures are brought forward to prevent from seepage control under the status quo of the site. These protecting measures have far-reaching significance to preserve the site of underground palace. These achievements and methods in this research can be used for reference in researches on cultural relic preservation, reconnaissance, guarding against soil seepageand and water environmental research in humid conditions ect.
