Guang Sheng temple in Shan Xi water temple was built in the Tang Dynasty(AD785 years ? 805 years), and its main body is the king temple of Ming Ying through several dynasties. Guang Sheng temple reestablished in Yuan on six years(AD 1319) and saved up to now.Water temple murals, as a part of the water temple, were drawn on the inside of the king temple of Ming Ying to consecrate the Water God. It was drawn in the Thai first year of Yuan Dynasty(AD 1324), and still so colorful as yet, with an area of 200 square meters, well-preserved. Water temple murals' content is rich and colorful, and the theme which closely links to the real life of the people is extensive, leaving with the people's demands about praying for rain, carrying people yearning for a better life. The content of the water temple murals includes worship to pray for rain, the palace life, the drama of the Yuan Dynasty, street life, landscape garden, chuiwan movement, myth stories, etc,which show the people's daily life in Shanxi area, and have a positive impact on the function of the customs and culture of the murals. In order to study the social, economic,cultural, drama, painting, architecture, and human life of the Yuan Dynasty, it provides important information and research data, owns a very high artistic value, and occupys a very important historical position in the history of the temple murals.The customs characteristics of the murals of water temple in Shanxi Guang Sheng temple as the starting point, research methods consist of field investigation, literature study, case study. Firstly, this paper emphatically analyzes the social customs factors which Guang Sheng temple water temple produced, and the customs civilization of the temple murals. Secondly, the origin of the temple of the water, the influence of the customs, the relation between the layout of the mural and the folk custom are further discussed. The last part of the thesis is to discuss the customs characteristics of the temple murals, murals in Guang Sheng temple with the artistic value and historical value, and the influence of custom characteristics on the later creation.
