By using the research methods of literature,‘interviews, questionnaires, tests and so on, with10teachers and1500pupiles as subjects, the leaning characteristics of English phonological awareness andword identification and its relationship with Chinese phonological awareness as well as the effects ofrelevant English phonological awareness training in Chinese children with phonological dyslexia wereexamined.The study includes two parts. In studyⅠ, by comparing the performance of phonological awarenesstest and English phonological awareness test between dyslexic and normal children, the Englishphonological awareness characteristics of Chinese children with phonological were explored and Englishword identification (word reading and pseudoword reading) as well; the influences of chinese phonologicalawareness and its components on English phonological awareness、word identification and its components.In studyⅡ,by the adoption of educational training, the training effects of relevant dimensions proved that isclosely related to Chinese phonologiceal awareness were explored; the effects English phonologicalawareness training on Chinese phonological awareness and Chinese spelling as well as its componentswere examined; the transfer of English phonological awareness training to Chinese phonological awarenesswere explored as well as the characteristics of cross language transfer were analyzed.The following conclusions were obtained.(1)The performance of Chinese children with phonological dyslexia in English phonologicalawareness and English word identification was significantly lower than that in normal children。Thedifferences in clsass was not significant in children with phonological dyslexia.(2)Chinese onset-rime awareness was a significant predictor of English phonological awareness inChinese children with phonological dyslexia. (3)Chinese Chinese syllables and onset-rime awareness were significant predictors of Englishphonological awareness in Chinese children with phonological dyslexia.Chinese onset-rime awareness wassignificantly predictive of English onset-rime and English phoneme awareness.(4)Chinese syllable showed significant prediction of English word identification in Chinese childrenwith phonological dyslexia.(5)The training of English phonological awareness, the experimental group and the control groupshowed significant differences in the overall level English phonological awareness and its components, theexperimental group was higher than that of the control group.(6)The training of English phonological awareness significantly improved the overall level of Chinesphonological awareness and its components except for tone awareness,the experimental group was higherthan that of the control group.(7)The training of English phonological awareness significantly improved the overall level of Chineseliteracy and its component-pinyin spelling, the experimental group was higher than that of the controlgroup.
