As officials out of power and people in villages and towns, squires are the closest recorders of the mass society in the late Ming Dynasty. Their experiences as officials and high-level knowledge make them more sensitive to the changes of the world and also enable them to make profound analysis. The late Ming society and historical changes hence find themselves extraordinarily vivid in the memories of squires. Because of their special status,half official half civilian,the squires can best embody how the Confucian values and official position struggle and compromise in the history. Therefore,taking the squires who observe the great changes and represent the society in the late Ming dynasty for study is undoubtedly the best way to touch the history of late Ming dynasty.As the King-subject contradiction increased,plus,criticism,scron,duty pressure and various social engagement and so on,the situation in admini station were generally bleak,resulting to a official dilemma. A lot of officials hoped to retire to keep their reputation in old age. Part of the officials suffered some spiritual pains,and thus turned downhearted and indifferent to politics, while others returned to their hometown and took it as a new platform to reclaim their pilitical ambition. Their spiritual state and manner have a deep impact on the politic trend and social custom in the Ming dynasty.In the respect of local enlightment,the squires didn’t strengthen the education efforts,but set exemples. In turn,the civilian would criticise and supervise the behaviour,expecting the squires to take the will of people into consideration. They also stimulated the squires to turn into local protecters. However, due to the superior position and illegal things one after another,squires were often the focus of conflicts and the object of struggles of the people, in which case,many squires would stayed insie or moved to another city. After the squires stop their intervention in local affairs, literati class like scholar,expanded their influences rapidly.In daily life,squires in the late Ming dynasty,leading a hermitage life,had extraordinarily delicate requirements and aesthetic demands. In general,it took on a careful, quiet and peaceful characteristics, for instance,they might choose a poetic habitat,and decorated it with a collection of symbolic accessories.During literary creation, they were sure to keep the brand new feeling towards rural society and elegant narrative. In everyday dress,they prefered to the clothes in farm land,and maintained an intense interest in frugality,which reflected the mixed feelings for the name section.In the thinking of the world after death, squires show abnormal vision for the fame.They Plan for livelihood problems for their future generations,and they also arrange personal doctrine writings tirelessly. There also have reflection of the fame and fortune, deep realization of life as a confucian scholar.That reflect a pure thought t world of confucian intellectuals which lead to perfection through personal multi-faceted inspect,accept,refute the correction to the reconstruction of self-oriented. This "I" view of competition and defects clearly disclose the desire and pursuit of the late Ming satisfactory life.
