Confucian culture has a long history and profound, as the mainstream oftraditional Chinese culture, deeply rooted even the marrow and muscle, along with theChinese nation in the history of 2,000 years to create long-lasting brilliant, then fellinto the history of modern metabolism abrupt it, it was not content and will not simplybecome the sacrificial lambs of the traditional social system of destruction. Although inmodern times China was winded and rained by European and American hurricane andWestern sudden entered, so the social change trend showed "change change changechange also change, the same trend of the times also change", but there are alwayswithin a national character trait of social culture "remain the same." Confucian cultureis deeply rooted in China, with both the relative stability and heritage of thetraditional historical accumulation followed inertia, but also not without times theinternal logic of the law of development and self-improvement function. Facingmodern China the abolition of imperial examinations, especially the collapse of theQing Dynasty collapse of absolute monarchy system the history of this earth-shakingchange in the situation, Confucian culture had to change the cast of their socialexistence of morphological transformation of the guide social model, fromdegradation to the variability of that difficult took to the road of the moderntransformation, which import into the Great rivers of the modernization of Chineseculture. Only regarding the Confucian culture as decadent tradition and ignoring itsmodernization of the transformation of the fate is not desirable.Since the modern Hundred Days’ Reform and scrapping imperial examination inthe Late Qing period, the Chinese Community began to criticize the traditionalConfucian culture. Because Qing Dynasty destruction and the rising of Republic,Especially, because the erection of the New Culture Movement against the monarchyimperial restoration has been carried out, the middle though the "Cultural Revolution"Pi Lin Pi movement, until the end of the 20th century the ascendant since the reformand opening "Learning Craze", scholars of domestic and abroad do a full range ofresearch of Confucius, Confucianism and Confucian culture. That becomes the mostdistinctive part of Chinese intellectual history and academic history. Looking at the previous academic study of the Confucian culture, especially the exploration ofmodern Confucian culture in transition, It can be found that most of academia’sresearch is to proceed from a macro perspective and emphasis on its political andethical dimensions and the analysis of the relationship between together away fromtraditional Chinese authoritarian regimes. But it is relative lack of a case study ofregional socio-modern transformation of Confucian culture in a vast territory China;this is very unfavorable for comprehensive, thorough and system studyingModernization of Chinese Confucian culture. In the present author’s view, I have not found monographs which conduct acomprehensive, in-depth and systematic research Focusing on Confucian culture andmodern regional social transformation, just to be involved in some ConfucianismGeneral Theory of monographs or papers. Therefore, in-depth and detailed researchon all the complicated relationship between Confucian culture and modern regionalsocial performance and its effect on modern society of Confucian culturetransformation is undoubtedly a very necessary and important. In modern times, with the course of social transformation and ideologicalemancipation, The traditional Confucian culture especially the feudal ethics as thecore of Confucian ethics are ceaselessly shocked and criticized by modern newculture. However, Confucian culture and new culture not only the existence ofconflict, struggle and confrontation performance interwoven, mutual survival andcoincidence. Shanxi Province, located in the hinterland of the middle reaches of the YellowRiver of China, the distance from the Han until the Qing that the Republic of Confucian culture as"official," the ancient rule, central, such as the ancient capital of Xi’an, Luoyang, Kaifeng andBeijing are very close, deeply affected by the ancient Confucian official school, Coupled with itsbarrier in the Taihang Mountains and the Yellow River winding, transport and cultural exchangesbetween the inconvenience of external geography, traditional Confucian culture here will form arelatively stable social and political order. In the late Qing Dynasty history, Shanxi and otherprovinces of the country similarly under traditional coverage and penetration of Confucian culture. In the history of Republic, because of the implementation of the unique mode of social dominationby Yan Xishan, the Confucian culture was highly respected in Shanxi Province. It can be said,Confucian culture and modern society of Shanxi forges the indissoluble bound. But Chinese Confucianism the History of Modern Chinese History academia and Shanxi LocalChronicles sector has no special considerations, so we should strengthen research to fill thevacancy. In the late Qing dynasty, Shanxi Confucian culture’s development shows itsunique era and regional. In the late Qing Dynasty of Shanxi, there have been manyfamous Confucian scholars such as Qi Junzao, Xu Jishe, Joe Songnian and so on, theypromoted the revitalization Confucian culture and made its due contribution fromdifferent levels in late Qing Dynasty of Shanxi, and taking Confucian cultureseriously and draw lessons from it of Shanxi merchants made the Confucian culturethe most incisive in the business. Because of these above, the Confucian culturefacing the crisis also began to revive in Shanxi, especially in the period of theRepublic of China, after Yan Xishan advocating politics in Shanxi, through theestablishment of a variety of agencies and newspapers, which were used toworshiping the Confucian culture, and publishing various words relating theConfucian culture to carry forward the Confucian culture, he carry out theConfucianism culture which he has always been respected to every aspect of Shanxisociety, Confucian culture really started reviving in Shanxi.Yan Xishan, although long-term entrenched famous warlord of Shanxi, heesteemed Confucianism and had been advertised as a versatile person ofConfucianism in civil and military. Yan Xishan was both marked by the traditionalculture and affected by modern civilization. Yan Xishan was being deeply influencedby Chinese traditional culture education from childhood, his ideology was deeplyimprinted by Confucianism, and Shanxi was basically the same under the reign of YanXishan in the period of the Republic. In order to consolidating his ruling status, hetook the Confucian culture as the guide, put forward clearly to the goal, planning, measures and to implement of the management, and implemented these in Shanxi, because of this, Shanxi become a typical province of national autonomy and ruralconstruction in the early Republic. Yan Xishan’s" six government affairs and threethings" are closely related to Confucian culture. Developing education, advocatingmoral and rectifying village all basically reflected the Confucian ethics. The villagepolitics is the most particular, His advocating of " fairness doctrine " and " the village politics"," the washing of heart"," ethics" and so on reflected the strong Confucianismtoo. Even in the period of Anti-Japanese War, Yan Xishan also did not forget toworship the Confucian culture, he skillfully use the Confucian ethics to deal withvarious forces. Confucian culture has a unique embodiment in the modern society ofShanxi; the process of historical changes of the traditional Confucian culture inmodern China can be easily snooped.Furthermore, the Confucian culture was also referenced usefully by Buddhism,Taoism and Christianity, the Catholic Church in varying degrees in the period ofmodern Shanxi; they also had injected fresh blood objectively to the ShanxiConfucian culture development, objective to promote the modern transformation ofConfucian culture in the society of Shanxi. In addition, the various social movementsof modern Shanxi also brought different effects to some extent to the Confucianculture development of modern Shanxi, including positive and negative. All in all, the Confucian culture and the modern Shanxi social evolution areclosely related. Consideration the relationship of Confucian culture and the modern ofsocial change, is not only useful to review the unique national character of thetraditional Chinese Confucian culture in modern society, times and geographical, butalso beneficial to explore the historical fate of Confucian culture in other provincialand even in the whole Chinese modernization process of social transformation, alsobenefit the to Glimpse calabash testability study of traditional culture and the laws ofhistory of modern China’s social transformation, and goes without saying that thereare the theoretical significance and academic value for the extension and deepening ofmodern Shanxi Local Chronicles too.
