According to the traditional perspectives about traditionalChinese painting skills, there should not be the appearance of lightwhich is forbidden in Chinese painting. A lot of Chinese painters areavoiding the use of light in their works, and they think that the onlypurpose of light-use is to give the picture more visual force which isagainst the basic ideas of Chinese painting creation. Hence, in thewithin the circle of the painting theory field, the artists andresearchers who actually apply light to Chinese painting creation anddo systematic research about light-use related subjects are few. Onlya few Chinese painters mention personal feeling of how to apply lightto painting, when they are talking about the experience of Chinesepainting creation. However, there are some contemporary Chinesepainters who have get certain achievement in the way of using light intheir paintings, on the basis of attempt about combining paintingskills of ancient and modern time, western and eastern countriesduring creation.The thesis consists of five chapters. Besides the introduction andthe conclusion parts, there are three chapters which are the main partof the thesis. In the first part, looking into the history of Chinesepainting and comparing the difference of Chinese painting and western painting, the author has found that the light-use during thecreation Chinese panting should reflect the uniqueness Chinesenation. With the consideration of impact in traditional Chinesepainting from Chinese ancient philosophy and foreign paintings, thecharacteristics of light-use during creation of paintings has beendetailed demonstrated. The second part is about the descriptionshown in the traditional Chinese painting theory and works. In thethird part, emphasis is put on the analysis of the modern Chinesepainters who use light in their works. They are discussed according tothe different types, such as,“simulation of lightâ€,“borrowing of lightâ€and suppositional light. The thesis intends to organize the theoriesabout the light-use in Chinese painting and thus carry out deepresearch and hopes to be enlightenment for other researchers. |
