Hypothesis is the assumption of the situation which will happen in the future. Things actually didn’t happen in accordance with individual expected assumptions or never happened, there would be a negative feedback which representing the formation of an unexpected error signal in human brain. The occurrence of these errors has a very special meaning in people’s daily lives. That also makes the study about hypothesis testing and error processing increasingly popular. In this study, experimental materials are beautiful or ugly pictures of women’s back and face, firstly subjects were presented a back image during the experiment, what’s more, they should guess whether the woman is a beauty, and then they were give a picture of a woman’s face to test the prior expectation right or wrong. If the feedback results are consistent with their expectations, there would be less surprise, and vice versa. The experiment results showed that when the subjects received inconsistent feedback with their prior expectations, the degree of its unexpected extent and response time should be significantly higher than the uniform conditions, what’s more, the inconsistent conditions compared to consistent conditions, activated error processing brain regions such as the ventral ACC. the study results are consistent with previous findings.
