As an intellectual in aesthetics, Deng Yizhe enjoys equal popularity with Zhu Guangqian and Zong Baihua in Peking University, and he has much more fresh academic thoughts, though as time goes on, he seems to be gradually forgotten in academics. By reviewing stories during Deng Yizhe’s lifetime and through reading his academic writings thoroughly, this paper tries to find the core idea in Deng Yizhe’s theories and what a system of aesthetic philosophy he dedicated his life to make out. In practice, this paper illustrates Deng Yizhe’s theories from the point of view of "Jing" and "Dong", which control over his academic idea ("Jing" is antonym of "Dong" in Chinese, which means stillness, silence and calmness).Though having a thorough knowledge of both western and traditional Chinese philosophy, Deng Yizhe did not seek his theory in view of western ways, on the contrary, he concentrates on the studies of Chinese traditional arts deeply. Based on "Chun Xing Shi Jie", he proves the value of Chinese traditional arts existing in today’s modern time, which, undoubtedly, still has inspiring meanings to positively developing today’s Chinese art theory, and which is also being discussed the most in this paper.("Chun Xing Shi Jie" are Chinese words and may sums up Deng Yizhe’s theory, which means following one’s heart, but not being bound up with authenticity or accuracy when creating or enjoying arts.)...
