Research On Literature Blank

One method in artistic expression called "blank" has been widely and skillfully applied in painting, calligraphy, music, literature and other arts categories. From the perspective of literature, the research of blank has been a significant topic in Chinese and Western literature study for a long period. The writers of all ages have attached great importance to "blank" in their creation, which endowed the compositions with great suggestion and enlightenment, and consequently unwind the imagination and creation of the appreciators.In this work, we figured out the literature theoretic origin of blank and explored the development, significance and application of this artistic method. Through the in-depth discussion, we expect to provide systematic understanding and view on this topic. In the first chapter, we focused on tracing the theoretic origin of blank by reviewing from the ancient Chinese Taoism philosophy to the modern western theory of blank raised by Ingarden. Iser. We clarified the connotation of the blank theory and analyzed its relation to the concepts such as "Indeterminacy","negation","tension","vacancy", etc. Then we elaborated the expression forms of blank, which are mainly categorized into "blank in construction" and "blank in imago". The second chapter discussed the formation of literature blank, specifically from the aspects of culture background and skills of the artists using blank method as well as the attendance and recreation of the readers. The third chapter mainly elaborated the various degrees of applications and significances of literature blank in didactic literature, serial novel, stream of consciousness novel and other kinds of literary work. Finally we summarized the significances of literature blank from the aspects of composition, reader, author, literature theory and so on.Literature blank fully reflected the dialectic in art and has unique aesthetic functions. It greatly expanded the capacity of the compositions and conveyed the implications which cannot be expressed by tangible words, therefore aroused the imagination of the readers and created a broad and free world for them.The research methods of this paper includes:the history and logic unify research technique, analysis and synthesis research technique and case study and comparison research, etc.
