Liang Qichao’s criticizes Chinese historical form of traditional existentialism: the royal existencehistoriography, the orthodox-unorthodox national existence historiography and the elite existencehistoriography, which provides the historical premise and foundation for constructing historical thinking ofthe modern Chinese existentialism and creatively transforming historical forms of the traditional Chineseexistentialism. On the basis of criticizing the traditional existentialism historiography deeply andsystematically, Liang Qichao made the direction of modern transformation of existentialism historiographyclear and formed "new historiography" scheme that realized "the revolution of historiography academia"which was contrary to replacement performance subject of tradition existentialism historiography as a way.The three main forms and the three evolvement links of modern Chinese existentialism historical forms arethe state existence historiography, national existence historiography and citizen existence historiography,they were clearly expressed for the first time on Liang Qichao’s critique to Chinese traditionalhistoriography. Liang Qichao thought that each a national needs to cultivate "the state thought","thenationalism thought" and "the citizen thought" from the reading of all its history on itself, that is to say,from all their own historical knowledge they need to understand what country, nation and citizen are; LiangQichao formulated "new historiography" must be able to offer the nationals all historical knowledge, in fact,Liang Qichao claimed every national must have a clear understanding and self-conscious awareness aboutthe social or exterior way of their own life existence and its own life performance object, scilicet,nation,state, society (groups, all citizens, the whole society). This made the nationals regard the comprehensionand cognition (knowledge) for the existence way of its own life and life performance object as the moralpremise of its own life existence. Existentialism of Liang Qichao’s historical thinking takes state existence, national existence and people existence as the standard and the core content of historical thinking of theexistentialism, this kind of historical thinking looks the citizen existence as the inner essence and takesnational state existence as its external manifestation and reconstructs modern state and nationhistoriography thoughts. Chinese historiography in essence is the existentialism historiography which lookson the life existence and life activities of a particular main body in history as the subject and the corecontent of historical description and historical representation and regards the human being life existenceand life activities in the reality (the activity) as the ultimate care theory; rather than the epistemologyhistory or scientism history which thinks of certain historical events and historical processes as the basicunit and the core content of historical description and historical representation and thinks of pursuing(history)knowledge and (history)truth as the ultimate value. Chinese historiography is a history of Chineseexistence historical form evolution. The modern Chinese history is developing along the track of historicalthinking of the modern existentialism and its three links of evolution which were constructed by LiangQichao since New Historiography was published. Today, Chinese historians are still living in Liang Qichao"new historiography" era and practicing Liang Qichao’s citizen existence of historiography.
