On Liang Qichao’s New Historiography Thought

Liang Qichao is the most influential historians in Modern Chinese, his whole lifeis following in the footsteps of history. In the study of the history, his newhistoriography thought is most has the spirit of the age. In the thought, the newhistoriography pays attention to the criticism of the old feudal history, it promote theawakening of national consciousness, take on the role of ideological enlightenment; Inthe academic, it promotes the traditional historiography to the transformation ofmodern historiography, makes a notable contribution for the construction of modernhistoriography system; On the history of the research methods, it develop a newmethod and have the courage to the innovation, open a new historical research model.This article is on the basis of Liang Qichao’s new historiography thought and make anew interpretation.The article is divided into six parts, mainly from the following several aspects todiscuss. The introduction part is make brief analysis on the problem produce, thenbased on the research situation on the new history at home and abroad, to be discussedfurther. The body of this article consists of four parts, the first chapter is the rise ofnew historiography thought, both at home and abroad to analyze its era background.The second chapter is the core part of the article, mainly discusses the connotation ofthe new historiography thought. Contents include two aspects about the criticism ofthe old feudal history and the construction of new historiography system. The thirdchapter is the methodology of new historiography thought, is also the core part of thearticle, mainly investigate the new history viewpoint and method on the study of thehistory, including four aspects about historical data collection and identification,historical topic selection and research, interdisciplinary historical method andadvocate of the historical statistics. The last chapter is the evaluation of LiangQichao’s newhistoriography thought, affirming its significance, also points out itsdefects, and make a show on the construction of the today’s history. Finally, is a briefconclusion, make a summary of Liang Qichao’s new historiography thought.
