The Nether World In The Recitation

Taking Xiawuqu district of Pingguo county in Guangxi province as the objectof investigation, basing on field investigation in cultural ecological characteristicsin Pingguo, the conditions of foreign and local religious faiths in the ceremonyand the relationship between the ceremony and the ritual soundscape,, this paperaims to study the value of ritual soundscape in local religious faiths and theimportance of “Recitation” in “Zuobang” ceremony by carrying on theories andmeasures of ethnomusicology and ethnology. Then to reach a conclusion thatsoundscape of “Zuobang” conducts an intangible “World of Nether” while is theunique language to communicate with the world. In contrast, with the help of localritual soundscape, foreign religious beliefs are accepted widely even though theimportance of local religious faith is decreasing for it.
