The face has a very important in human life, everyday social communication need the face recognition. As an important stimulus, faces can help people to understand a lot of important informations, such as age, gender, ethnicity, expression and so on. People use their memories of the face to recognize other’s identity, and then select right style to communicate. Therefore, the face is very important to study. The ability of the face memory is the very important field in psychological research and get more attention, which is a human cognitive function. So, we can do more further study of the ability of the face memory.Firstly, gender is the important information which is contained in face. There are two kinds of gender in human’s world and everone has their own gender, even if the fetus. Gender differences have been key issues in people’s theories and applied research in face recognition research, especially in the study of face recognition. Can men remember face as well as women? In addition, faces are divided into the two kinds of gender, like human themselves. The judgment of face gender is an extremely fast process and it has special utility. There are some reasons that human beings are good at distinguishing the gender of the face. One of the reasons is that the face itself brings some biological informations. People can use these information to recognize face gender. Is the people’s memory capacity equally in studies of different gender face recognition? Additionally, there are some difference that different gender people recognize different gender faces. These differences are caused by both congenital and acquired factors. In different cultural backgrounds, children have different rearing patterns, different frequency of contacting with the opposite sex and different training mode of gender roles, these things effect people to recognize face. So, there is cultural effect in face recognition and this effect brings about the difference of cognitive ability. Therefore, studying the cognitive ability of faces in the Chinese cultural background is not only to complete cognitive knowledge, but also to enrich cultural effect.Secondly, there is the practical significance in the dynamic faces because this kind of face is very common in the actual life. People can detect the emotions of others by observation of the dynamic face. By contrast, the practical application of the static face is less than dynamic face. In terms of dynamic face recognition, dynamic expression is an important processing and dynamic expression effects to recognize gender, age, identification and so on. Dynamic expression can improve the ability of face cognitive processing. To study the dynamic face, especially the dynamic expression for face recognition, is a very important and this research has broad application prospects. In summary, based on the "Learning-recognition" paradigm, we used static and dynamic ways to display different gender unfamiliar face photos. The experiment1aimed to study sex effect and the benefits of facial motion. The experiment2aimed to study that how the different dynamic expressions effect moving face memory. The results indicated:(l)There was sex effect in recognition of dynamic expressive faces, including gender differences and own gender bias.(2)There was the benefits of facial motion in unfamiliar face memory.(3)The negative expression was advantageous to recognize moving face.(4)When learning photos’expression was as same as recognition photos’expression, participants remembered more faces.(5)When learning photos’expression was as same as recognition photos’expression, the memory performance in the onset of expressions was better. When learning photos’ expression was different from recognition photos’expression, the memory performance in the offset of expressions was better.
