The Natural Selection Theory And Application In Subject Of Survival Processing Advantage Effect

The survival processing advantage comes from the functional account of memory, it refers to that words incidentally processed for their relevance to a survival scenario have better retrieval relative to other deep processing controls and rival scenarios. It is a pervasive phenomenon. There have been a number of studies on this topic since it was found five years ago, and several models which used to explain this effect turn up. However, Most studies prove the Natural Selection by getting rid of the Thematic Processing, Congruity Effect and so on, lacking of testing the Natural Selection straightly and application of the survival advantage. Adopting empirical means, the current research confirmed survival advantage effect was caused by natural selection, and provided a new perspective for understanding the survival advantage effect and exploring the role of the corresponding mechanism. At the same time, provide reference for survival advantage effect in the teaching application.This research carried on the theory of natural selection included three experiments:Experiment1chosen nine, ten, twelve, twenty-one and sixty-four, by comparing different effect of primitive hunting and hunting contest on memory retention, examined the performance of survival advantage effect in all age groups. Experiment2explored the production advantage by choosing survival, self reference, mate selection, pregnancy and raise a child in order to examine the memory advantage of reproductive processing. Experiment3used grade2of a senior high school to examine the application of survival advantage in education by selecting conceptional sentence.Within the experiment conditions of the present research, the author drew the conclusions as follows:①the survival advantage occurs in nine, ten, twelve, twenty-one and sixty-four, and its amount don’t change among all the selected participants of different ages; the scenario of mate selection, raise a child put up the retention advantage. The two results stand by the Natural Selection.②It demonstrates that the survival advantage doesn’t emerge, at least when adopt sentence as test content.
