The intangible cultural heritage is the national culture of a nation, from which we can see a nation’s past, present and future and it enjoys an irreplaceable cultural value. Generally speaking, a certain culture (material or non-material) originates and exists in its particular "cultural environment" or "cultural space". From the first half of the twentieth Century, the cultural ecology of the Chinese musical culture as the traditional "intangible culture" has witnessed significant changes due to some historical and social reasons. From the general perception of the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, this thesis is trying to explore the problems faced by the musical culture as one of the intangible cultural heritage inheritance, focusing on the concept of "cultural space" or "cultural environment", with the analysis of the impact of China’s current social and cultural environment, especially the "exam-oriented education system", on music culture as a intangible cultural heritage, and propose to excavating and inheriting the national "non material cultural heritage of music" based on the "school folk music education" as a possible path.
