A Comparative Study On Compound Sentences With"Cai (才)" Between Chinese And Koreann

This paper focuses on the logico-semantic relations of the compound sentences with ’cai (才)’, relative markers of compound sentences and the sentence pattern of the clause. A pragmatic analysis is also made in this study. Through a study on the compound sentences with ’cai (才)’ which include conditional, causal and purpose ones, a comparative analysis concerning complex sentences with ’cai (才)’ between Chinese and Korean is made.And on that basis, the syntactic differences in the compound sentences with ’cai (才)’ between Chinese and Korean are described, and the influences on sentence meanings and pragmatic expressions caused by varied syntactic positions are also analyzed.In this paper, data are mainly from "compound sentences corpus inChinese" by Central China Normal University and CCL corpus provided by Beijing University.This paper, which falls into three parts, intends to make an analysis on the differences of the compound sentences in Chinese and Koreann which include the conditional, causal and purpose ones.In the exordium, the research subjects and its objectives and significance are briefly introduced. The content and scope of the research and research methodology are also given.The first chapter of the paper examines logico-semantic relations, relative markers, patterns of clauses and pragmatic analyses in the compound sentences.The second chapter introduces the logico-semantic relations, relative markers, patterns of clauses and pragmatic analyses of causal compound sentences in Chinese and Koreann.In chapter three, the logico-semantic relations, relative markers, patterns of clauses and pragmatic analyses of purpose compound sentences in Chinese and Koreann are described.The last part, the main ideas and the differences of this comparative study concerning Chinese and Koreann are summarized.
