Dietetic culture is an important part of social culture. It also can reflect the socialculture as a mirror. The Chinese dietetic is profound. It is not only the important part ofChinese traditional culture, but also the most solid culture that ancient people has inheritedsince ancient people formed in the long-term social life. Form the ancient times to now, inthe long development history, the Chinese dietetic culture is exist as a materially and stableshape. And because of the different climate, soil, living condition, people’s habits andcustoms, the Chinese dietetic culture start to been the different kinds that each with theirown style and characteristics.“The Golden Lotus” which was pressed in the Ming dynasty,mainly depicted the living condition of Ming dynasty. The dietetic culture of the novel haddistinctive features and lively reappeared the diet culture style of Ming dynasty. And it is aprecious novel for we to understand the dietetic culture and social culture of Ming dynasty.This article choose the book published by the People’s Literature PublishingHouse(1988) as the copy. On the base of the book, I combined related documents and try toanalyze the dietetic culture of the novel deeply. Firstly, the article use statistical method tosummarize and classify the food of “The Golden Lotus”. Secondly, this article makes greateffort to explore culture behind the diet activity, which on the base of the novel andfolklore and social culture knowledge. Thirdly, this article try to find the function of thedietetic culture in “The Golden Lotus”.Through the study of this article, I hope to try my best to help readers understand thebasic situation of Ming dynasty, and the common life style of that era.
